The One Number
Likes are not a business. The chain that matters runs from views to conversations to appointments to closings, and an agent who can see every step of it stops guessing what to make more of. How we read it monthly and what changes when you can.
Likes are not a business
An agent can have the best quarter of their career with a feed that looks dead, and the worst with a feed that looks alive. Likes, follows and views are the easiest numbers to see and the least connected to a closing. They measure attention. A business measures what attention turned into.
The chain
The chain that matters has four links. Views: how many people saw the work. Conversations: how many of them wrote back, commented with a question, sent a message, scanned a sign. Appointments: how many of those conversations became a showing, a listing presentation or a coffee. Closings: how many of those appointments became a contract.
Every link can be counted, and every link has a rate to the next. Views that never become conversations are a content problem. Conversations that never become appointments are a reply problem. Appointments that never close are a sales problem, and no amount of content fixes it.
What you stop guessing
An agent who can see the whole chain stops guessing what to make more of. The reel with the most views may have produced nothing; the plain walkthrough with a tenth of the views may have produced the month's only listing appointment. Seen as a chain, that is not a mystery. It is an instruction.
It also ends the argument with yourself about whether any of it is working. The feed feels quiet in month four. The chain shows twelve conversations and three appointments that did not exist in month one.
How we read it
Once a month, one page. The four numbers, the three rates between them, and what moved since last month. Under them, three lines: what to make more of, what to stop, and which past clients to call this week, because the chain also shows who saved the open-house reel and never wrote. Ten minutes to read, and the calendar for the next month is set from it, not from a feeling.
The one number is not views. It is the next link, whichever one is weakest this month, and the read is the habit of looking at it.
